Pool Table Installation Done Right

A pool table is only as good as its installation. The slate has to sit perfectly flat, the seams have to disappear, and the cloth has to be stretched to the right tension. Get any of those wrong and balls roll off line, seams catch, and the cloth wears out early. That is why a proper pool table setup takes a few hours and an experienced mover, not a couple of friends and an instruction sheet.

We install new tables fresh out of the crate, tables that came with a house you just bought, and tables that need a full reset after a remodel or new flooring. Standard models, tournament tables, and custom builds are all normal work for us. Every installation ends with a precision leveling check, done with a machinist level rather than a phone app, and we roll balls across the table with you before we leave.

If the table is new, we also check it for shipping damage before assembly so any claim goes to the manufacturer, not to you. If you bought a used table, we inspect the slate for cracks and the frame for stress before we set it up, so you know exactly what you own.

How an Installation Goes

Site check

We confirm the room, the path in, and the exact spot. Measurements first, no surprises on install day.

Frame and legs

The cabinet goes together and the legs get leveled. A solid base is what makes everything after it possible.

Slate and seams

The three slate pieces are set, shimmed, and leveled. Seams are filled and sanded so the ball never knows they exist.

Cloth and rails

Felt is stretched and fastened at the right tension, then rails and pockets go on. Final level check, then you test it.

Is pool table setup the same as installation?
Yes. Whether you call it a pool table set up, setup, or installation, the job is the same: we assemble the frame, seam and level the slate, stretch the cloth, and leave the table ready to play. New table delivery and setup is usually a single visit.
How long does a pool table installation take?
A standard installation takes 2 to 4 hours depending on the table and the room. Tournament tables and difficult access can take longer.
Can you install a table I bought used?
Yes, and we recommend an inspection during setup. We check the slate for cracks, the frame for stress, and the cushions for age so you know the condition of what you bought.
Do you install tables upstairs?
Yes. Slate pieces are carried individually. Stairs add to the total, quoted up front.
Should I get new felt during installation?
Yes if the cloth is torn, has holes or damage, looks worn or faded, or is more than a few years old. The table is already apart, so adding felt during the install costs far less than a separate visit.
What room size do I need before installing a pool table?
Plan for about 5 feet of clearance on all sides of the table for a standard 58-inch cue. That works out to a room around 13 by 16 feet for a 7-foot table, about 13.5 by 17 for an 8-foot, and about 14 by 18 for a 9-foot. Tight corners can be handled with shorter cues. Send us the room dimensions and we will confirm before install day.
Can you install a pool table on carpet?
Yes. Carpet is fine and actually common in game rooms. We level to the carpeted surface, and the table settles slightly over the first few weeks, which is normal.
Do you install coin-operated or commercial tables?
Yes. We install and service commercial tables for bars, venues, and apartment game rooms, including ball-return systems. Commercial installs are quoted by the job.
What should I do to prepare the room before installation?
Clear the path from the door to the table spot and decide exactly where the table should sit. We handle everything else, including protecting floors and walls along the route.
